UNICEF delegation calls on UGC Chairman

A- three member delegation from UNICEF called on Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, Chairman, University Grants Commission(UGC) of Bangladesh  at the latter’s office on 19 January 2020. Ms. Neha Kapil, Chief, C4D (Communication for Development), UNICEF, Bangladesh led the delegation. Other Members of the delegation included Dr. David Mould, Professor Emeritus, Media, Arts and Studies, Ohio University, USA and Ms. Yasmin Khan, C4D Manager, UNICEF, Bangladesh Country Office. Professor Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Member, UGC, Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Director, Private University Division and Mr. Md. Omar Faruque, Director (Current Charge), Research Support and Publication Division, UGC, among others, were present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the delegation informed the UGC Chairman that UGC and UNICEF will jointly announce the first ever C4D research fellowships for the faculty members of public and private universities of the country at a programme to be held on 04 February 2020 in Dhaka.

UGC Chairman, in his speech, stressed the need for developing C4D curriculum on the basis of local and global demands and needs. UNICEF and UGC has been jointly working to foster C4D curriculum and research among Bangladeshi Academic institutions since 2017.
