ADB finalise $ 125 million for IT project

 

University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh held a meeting with Asian Development Bank (ADB) on the proposed Tertiary Education for Competitiveness in Information Technology Project (IT).

 

Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman of UGC, presided over the meeting held at UGC on Wednesday (27 March 2019).

 

At the meeting, ADB and other stakeholders of the project discussed the Development Project Proposal (DPP). University of Dhaka, BUET, Jessore University of Science and Technology, East West University will be benefited of the proposed three-year long ADB project.

 

Ms. Gi Soon Song, In-Charge of ADB’s Human and Social Development Division said ADB wants best utilization of proposed 125 million US dollars project for capacity building of IT professionals and improvement of infrastructure of higher educational institutions in Bangladesh.

 

UGC Chairman said under this project, the four universities will be able to produce quality graduates and contribute to develop Bangladesh as a mid-level income generating country by 2021. UGC will try it best to implement the project, UGC Chairman ensured the ADB delegation.

 

UGC Members Professors Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, UGC Secretary Dr. Md Khaled, Members of ADB’s Facts Finding Mission,  representatives of four universities, high officials of UGC were present at the meeting.
