Digital Service Design Lab begins in Dhaka

Inaugural Ceremony of a six day long Digital Service Design Lab was inaugurated at the auditorium of Public Works Department, Dhaka today ( 16 January 2020) for bringing the digital systems of services of the country’s universities  under a single platform. University Grnats Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh in association with Digital Service Accelerator, a2i and ICT Division has organized the event. N M Ziaul Alam, Senior Secretary, ICT Division graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Dr. Aruna Biswas, Additional Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education and Md. Abdullah Al Hasan Chowdhury, Additional Secretary, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education were present as the Special Guests. Professor Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Member, UGC presided over the ceremony. Forhad Zahid Shaikh, a2i delivered the address of welcome on the occasion. Teachers from 36 public and private universities and high officials from Ministry of Education and UGC, among others, were present in the inaugural ceremony.

 

Uniformed University Management Software and Integrated University Information Management Platform will be developed in the country’s universities through this workshop. This software will be implemented in all universities by 2021 as part of building Digital Bangladesh.

 

The Chief Guest, in his speech appreciated the initiative for developing Uniformed University Management Software and Integrated University Information Management Platform at university. Management and service quality at university level will be enhanced. It will help in implementation of dream of Digital Bangladesh. He called for ensuring the use of digital technology at all levels, he added.

  

Professor Sazzad Hossain, in his presidential speech, noted that an intregrated system will be developed through the Digital Service Design Lab. It will play a vital role in facing the challenges of fourth industrial revolution and achieving SDGs. He urged all concerned to deliver services in innovative way to establish Bangladesh as a developed country by 2041.  It will ensure transparency of university activities. Our graduates will cut a good figure in the competitive world, he added.

 

He further said that teachers, students and employees of universities will easily deliver and receive all services at any time and from any place through the Uniformed University Management Software and Integrated University Information Management Platform

 

It may be mentioned here that the closing ceremony of Digital Service Design Lab will be held at Osmani Memorial Auditorium, Dhaka on 22 January 2020. Md. Abdul Hamid, Hon’ble President, People’s Republic of Bangladesh is expected to grace the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
